Cancelled fireworks

Ominous cloud loom overhead, as we waited for the July 4th fireworks to start.

as we see more and more lightning strikes in the distance, I figured the announcement of cancellation would be any moment.  Sure enough, 10 minutes before the scheduled time, cancellation was announced.  I found out later that the city went ahead and had the fireworks show anyways, go figure..  

Weather in Florida is so unpredictable.

Although dead now, this tree had set root system on the side of the wall.  The building is home to several shops, and this is the wall in the back alleyway.

Was the building abandoned at one point to allow a tree to grow?

Did it die because lack of nutrient from the brick wall?
